Post 108 Franklin, NC Honor Guard
The purpose of the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard is to honor the service and sacrifice of honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The dedicated members of the Post 108 Franklin, NC Honor Guard render military honors at an average of 50 funerals/memorials per year for veterans in the Macon County and a portion of Jackson and Rabun Counties. It Is Our Privilege!
From the Captain of the Franklin Post 108 Honor Guard:
"We are honored to provide Funeral Services to our local Veterans. This service is funded and operated by monetary donations only. All of our members are volunteers and are very committed people, as well as Veterans themselves.
Due to age and declining Honor Guard numbers, some members being resident only part of the year, we are forced to reduce the distance we are able to travel and provide for Veteran funerals to within a 30-mile radius of Franklin, NC.
The Honor Guard will cover ALL of Macon County, NC. There will be NO funeral support to South Carolina. A portion of Veteran funerals for Jackson and Rabun Counties WILL be supported, within the 30-mile radius.
Black Mountain Veterans Cemetery will ONLY be visited to provide services to our immediate Honor Guard members.
Thank you for your understanding and coordination with family members or others who request services of our local Honor Guard."
